Chera

Chera is a mountainous municipality located inside a huge tectonic trench formed 65 million years ago and surrounded by steep peaks of up to 1,176 m in altitude. It's a town that holds distinctive natural and scenic values, aiming to preserve and protect them by designating the Chera - Sot de Chera Natural Park and establishing a Geological Park.

The Chera - Sot de Chera Natural Park is different to other natural parks because in this one the geology takes precedence. Visitors can explore various trails and marked routes, enjoying a diverse and rugged landscape with striking gorges. The area showcases a rich variety of flora and fauna, some of which are exclusive to these exceptional natural reserves.

The Chera Geological Park is the only one of its kind in the Valencian Community and the third biggest in Spain, as well as being the most complete of all. The museum displays collections of fossils, rocks, minerals, and photographs showcasing diverse tectonic structures. The park offers seven marked trails leading to stunning attractions like La Hoz ravine, La Garita caves, and the Buseo reservoir.

The festivities of Chera are dedicated to the Virgen de los Ángeles and San Jose and are held the first week of August.
