Camporrobles

Situated in the north-west corner of the region, serving as a natural border with the province of Cuenca, Camporrobles was historically one of the key centres of the Iberian world in the region. Its primary attraction lies in the renowned "El Molón Archaeological Park". The park is located on the mountain of the same name, a few kilometres from the town, and includes the archaeological site located on the summit and an interpretation centre. The remains of the Iberian and Islamic occupations have been enhanced, highlighting the defensive system, which preserves a large stretch of wall from the Iberian period and a mosque from the Islamic period.

The Interpretation Centre, located on the southern slope, is the ideal complement to the visit to improve knowledge and interpretation of the cultures that left us their legacy, as well as a recreation area and a spring that flows from inside the rock, which was once a sanctuary cave.

The Archaeological Park can be accessed by car up until the interpretation centre and on foot from this point to the site, using a small marked trail.

The town has some noteworthy buildings, such as the neoclassical church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, dating back to the 18th century, the hermitage of San Cristóbal, the Patronato Martínez de la Mata that houses the Raúl Gómez Museum with three collections (archaeology, malacology and painting), and other elements of interest, such as the Tombola and the Pozo Concejo.

The town's major celebrations include winter festivities honouring Santa Agueda in the first week of February, events held during Easter, and the summer festivities in the third week of August, which involve moving and presenting offerings to the Virgen de Tejeda. Notable among the cultural and recreational events are the traditional "Canto de los Mayos" and the innovative "Percufest", an International Percussion Campus that hosts a week of performances by globally renowned percussionists, held at the beginning of August.
